GROUPING OF INSTALLATIONS
Some oil and gas production occurs from offshore fields for which no emissions and discharges are being reported (about 25% on the United Kingdom Continental Shelf; UKCS). These fields are tied back to adjacent installations where their production is processed. In the environmental benchmark tool (EBT), the production from these fields has been allocated to the installations to which they are tied back (see schematic).
Production of the oil producing satellite operated by Operator A is allocated to the oil processing installation which is also operated by Operator A. Production from the gas producing satellite operated by Operator B is, however, allocated to the gas processing installation operated by Operator D.
The EBT, in other words, compares groups of installations. In doing so, it ensures that all production treated at the main processing installations is allocated to these installations. The following table lists the current groups of installations of the UKCS.
