APPLICATION

Since developing the TINA approach, I have been able to apply it to a wide range of environmental management requirements. This page provides an overview of, and alternative links to, these applications.

In the ‘theory’ section of this website, I have explained the thinking behind the TINA approach in greater detail, but the common denominator with all the applications suggested here is their focus on any underlying expectations. Whether permit application, working procedure, or management system, all the applications have been developed with the need to improve their effectiveness in adressing the underlying environmental expectations. When environmental issues are complex, than that is usually because the underlying emotions are not addressed.

Rather than aimed at fulfilling the minimum requirements of guidelines and procedures, the applications described here aim to address the underlying environmental questions as well as any procedural requirements. This results in products that are simpler, more to the point and consice, as there is less need to spend time and resources on issues that are beside the point. There is also no need to rely of lip service and spin.

The figure below contains links to descriptions of these applications. The links are placed under one or more of the following four headings:

  • consent applications,
  • public relations,
  • environmental management and
  • data analysis.
